Low threshold club Fun Club Fortuna
Fun Club Fortuna is a low threshold club focused on working with socially disadvantaged families living in Bratislava hostel Fortuna. It has been operated by Spoločnosť priateľov detí z detských domovov Úsmev ako dar (Smile is a gift) since 2009. The main objectives of our work are free time activities dedicated to personal development, self-activities, creativity and talent of children as well as systematic work with parents, aimed at developing parentil skills and abilities. The founder and operator of this web is the team of volunteers of this low threshold.
The Angel program:
The main objective of the Angel program is to develop, strengthen and promote the moral assumptions, capabilities and characteristics of the child, give the children an interest in art, culture and sport. Regular systematic action helps strengthen friendly relations, ties and creates new friendships. The Angel program is carried out through regular meetings of the volunteers - angels with children at least once a month.
Our objectives:
· Overcoming difficult life situations.
· Effort to reduce discrimination and social exclusion.
· Assistance in promoting the rights and interests of children and young people.
· Prevention of socio-pathological phenomena.
· Improving interpersonal relationships between children, parents and the community.
We are trying to achieve these objectives by:
· Regular club activities:
currently carried out twice a week in the form of leisure activities, based on principles of low threshold programmes for children and young people.
· Club of homework:
helping children prepare for subjects such as Math, Slovak language, Physics and Computer skills.
· One day activities:
carried out through trips, participating in various cultural and social events, experience activities, games dedicated to social, emotional and physical development.
· Weekend stays and camps:
The stays give children a chance to develop their abilities, enhance self-confidence, build up new social contacts and deepen friendships. They are the source of experiences, joy and impulses that every child needs for their harmonic development. The objectives of particular stays depend on age composition of the participants and/or specific needs of the children and young people.
· Field social work
Working with clients in conditions outside of our club. The aim of field social work is finding and making new contacts with children and young people in and around the hostel premises.

- training in social area (various conferences organised by Úsmev ako dar)
- teambuilding activities (experience programs, visiting cultural sights)
- acquisition of skills and experience in working with children (experience for further life)
